Are you interested in learning more about careers in the Medical/Health Science field? What about Manufacturing and Engineering? Would you like to try a class unlike any you’ve ever taken? If so, the GO CAPS program may be for you!
Starting in August 2017, LHS will be offering a unique opportunity to 11th & 12th grade students called the Greater Ozarks Center for Advanced Professional Studies Lake Region (or GO CAPS). This program gives students interested in careers within the Medical & Health Science field and careers within the Manufacturing & Engineering field an opportunity to explore available job opportunities, to learn real-world skills needed in today’s workplace, and to make connections with professionals working in those fields.
What can GO CAPS do for you?
- Learn inside a business setting. The GO CAPS classroom will be in a business or hospital, not the high school!
- Work on real-world projects. Many students have the opportunity to help business partners with projects.
- Learn about industry needs and trends.
- Identify individual interests and passions. Students involved in GO CAPS programs report having discovered career interests they never knew existed.
- Grow professional and technical skills early.
GO CAPS gives students the opportunity to job shadow, intern, work on real-world projects, make connections with future employers, and learn soft skills. Classrooms are located inside local businesses and students spend either the morning (8-10:30) or afternoon (12-2:30) in the GO CAPS program. GO CAPS gives students 3 ½ Practical Art Electives towards graduation.
If you are interested in the GO CAPS program, please sign up to see your counselor to learn more about the program and complete the application HERE. Seats are limited and applications need to be completed by March 7, 2019.
