Randy Gum Named Next Boswell Principal

During the School Board meeting on Tuesday, February 12, the Lebanon R-3 School Board voted to hire Randy Gum as the next Boswell Elementary Principal. Gum will replace Rachelle Jennings, who will become the Superintendent of the Joel E. Barber School District next school year.

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Gum to the Lebanon R-3 School District,” said Lebanon Schools Superintendent Dr. David Schmitz. “He comes with multiple years of experience as a building principal and an impressive skill set to both compliment and build upon the great work underway at Boswell. We are pleased to have had an excellent candidate pool and feel confident Mr. Gum will be a great addition to the Boswell team!”

Mr. Gum comes to Lebanon with 11 years of experience in education. For the past five years he has been the K-12 principal at Miller County R-3 in Tuscumbia, a school founded on family values and a growth mindset. Prior to that he spent six years in the classroom at Hawthorn Elementary in Camdenton teaching 4th grade. During that time he was voted 2014’s “Best Teacher At The Lake” in Lake Lifestyles Magazine. Gum earned his certification in Elementary Education from Columbia College, his Masters in Educational Administration from Southwest Baptist University, and his Specialist in Educational Administration from William Woods University.

Randy and his wife Jenny are both from Lake of the Ozarks area. They have two children, son Dylan, 12 years old, and daughter Jayden, 9 years old. Their family enjoys spending quality time in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, golfing and are also active playing baseball, softball and soccer.

When asked about coming to Lebanon, Gum said, “I am really looking forward to becoming a part of Yellowjacket Nation. Boswell students and staff have a strong reputation and I am delighted to become part of their family. The leadership of their administration and Lighthouse teams were impressive and inviting. The Lebanon School District has a proud reputation and I know there are many more great opportunities to come!”
