Matt Johnson Named Next CTE Director

During the School Board meeting on Tuesday, March 12, the Lebanon R-3 School Board voted to hire Matt Johnson as the next Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE). Johnson will replace Keith Davis, who will retire after eight years as LTCC Director and a total of twenty-five years in education.

Johnson is currently the Director of Engineering and Technology at the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and has been gaining valuable CTE experience in this role. Prior to that he was a Project Lead the Way Instructor at the Sikeston Career and Technology Center. He earned his Masters of Education in CTE Administration and his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education both from the University of Central Missouri.

Lebanon Schools Superintendent, Dr. David Schmitz, said, “I am excited to welcome Mr. Matt Johnson to our team! He has had rich experiences as both a career center teacher and most recently as the Director of Engineering & Technology at the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Mr. Johnson’s expertise will support our District’s effort to ensure that ‘every student has a clear plan for their future.’”

Johnson and his wife have three children (ages 19, 20, and 21). They also have three dogs, love the lake and the beach, and are huge Cardinals and Chiefs fans. When asked about coming to Lebanon Johnson said, “We are excited to lay roots in Lebanon and build friendships and relationships.”

“I am excited to join the Lebanon School District family,” Johnson continued. “I am passionate about career education and the opportunities for success that we offer our students. I appreciate Lebanon's shared passion for career education and developing college and career ready students.”
