Brent Snyder Hired as Esther Assistant Principal

During their Tuesday, June 13 meeting, the Lebanon R-3 School Board hired Ora “Brent” Snyder as the new Assistant Principal at Esther Elementary. Snyder is currently a 7th grade science teacher at Lebanon Middle School. He will be Assistant Principal to Shalyn Howe, who is moving into the Principal role in July.

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Snyder back to Esther,” said Howe. “Mr. Snyder is a former 1st grade teacher and has a love for working with students this age. He brings experience and high energy to the Esther team.”

Snyder has worked for Lebanon Schools for seven total years as a 1st grade teacher, a 6th grade english language arts teacher, a 7th grade science teacher, and as a special education paraprofessional. In the 2015-16 school year, Snyder served as an Assistant Principal in the Sante Fe School District in New Mexico. Snyder is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Education Leadership through the University of Arkansas, earned both his Specialist and Masters degrees in Education Administration from Missouri State University, and has a Bachelors degree in Biology from Drury University.

“I wanted to come to Esther because I feel it’s where I can have the biggest impact on our community,” said Snyder. “I believe working with those kids on a foundational level, and as a mentor and leader for teachers will have a positive impact. Having been away in New Mexico last year and coming back to Lebanon has made me really appreciate this community on a deeper level. It’s like family here and the community has truly welcomed me back. We’re thrilled beyond words to be back in the community again.”

Snyder has been married to his wife Laurie for nearly 15 years, and they have four sons: Skye (13), Drake (12), Oliver (7), and Axel (4). They love to travel as a family in their motorhome, which Snyder shared is great bonding time for the family, and also a great educational experience for their kids. They also love going to the lake, boating, hiking, and spending time outdoors.
