And the winner is...

During the 2002-2003 school year, I held a short story writing contest in American Literature. Dereck Johnson wrote a great story, earning him a sketch, but he elected to wait for his senior pictures rather than be drawn as a lowly sophomore.

During the 2002-2003, I held a contest in my Sophomore English classes. Whoever scored the highest on our first major test, a 325-point whopper, would be the winner. Sam Morrison won. What fabulous prize did Sam win? A trip to the Bahamas? A brand new car? A Playstation 2? An old sock from the lost and found bin? No, Sam won a sketch of himself drawn by yours truly. Sam brought in his eighth grade picture, and I drew it as well as an English teacher can.

In 2004-2005 Sam almost won again, but Chelsea Hogue won the tiebreaker test after she and Sam both scored perfect scores on the original test.

In 2005-2006 Taylor Whitacre tied with Nathaniel Rogers on the big test, and it took two tiebreakers to find the winner.
